Celebrating 10 years and 10 million Millie Marotta colouring books

2024 is a significant year for bestselling colouring book illustrator Millie Marotta: It’s the 10-year anniversary of the release of her hit debut Millie Marotta’s Animal Kingdom. This anniversary coincides with sales of Millie’s colouring books hitting 10 million copies worldwide. Batsford is celebrating this occasion with a big marketing campaign around Millie’s new book Millie Marotta’s Precious Planet, which, naturally, is publishing on 10 October (10/10).

The campaign includes competitions with attractive prizes to win including Millie Marotta books and stationery along with colouring products from Faber-Castell. A colouring community and social media campaign has launched with Batsford and Millie working with influencers to promote the book, with a potential reach of over 1 million colouring fans. To further celebrate Millie Marotta at 10 years/10 million copies, Millie is curating an online exhibition of 100 of her favourite coloured-in images, while colourists are encouraged to celebrate their own colouring journey by posting 10 of their favourite Millie Marotta illustrations they have coloured over the years.

Beautiful point of sale is available for booksellers wishing to take part in the celebrations, including posters, colouring postcards and colouring sheet downloads.

Millie Marotta’s Animal Kingdom spent a record 22 weeks as the official paperback non-fiction number one in 2015. The same year it was the number one bestselling non-fiction book in the UK, and the number one bestselling book overall on Amazon UK. Since the huge success of her debut book, Millie has gone on to create more bestselling colouring books and her books have been translated into over 30 languages.

Millie Marotta’s Precious Planet focuses on endangered wildlife, a subject that lies particularly close to Millie’s heart. Millie studied wildlife illustration at college and her illustrations are inspired by the natural world. From the much-loved snow leopard to the adorable axolotl, there’s a kaleidoscope of endangered and vulnerable species to colour.
