The site has been designated both a National Historic Landmark and a New York City landmark, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In Her Words is a unique snapshot of women in the legal profession from around the world at a defining point in history: following a century of progress but in the midst of a global crisis causing profound uncertainty.  

Theyyam is an extraordinary 2,000-year-old ritual of worship found only in the northern region of India’s south-western state of Kerala. It is in this myth-wrapped land that empowered men become temporarily transformed into deities. Whilst the process is an internal one that obliterates the practitioner’s human persona, on an external level his face is transformed by intricate make-up and his body fantastically costumed.
The word ‘Theyyam’ is a corruption of daivam, meaning, quite simply, God. The practitioners of Theyyam perform specific rituals and dance to express their joy at seeing their devotees, whilst the last stages of their manifestation involve them blessing, healing, exorcising, answering questions and maintaining the link between humanity and the divine.
Pepita Seth’s decades-long association with Theyyam’s practitioners gave her unprecedented access to their unique culture. In God’s Mirror: The Theyyams of Malabar is the culmination, in her words and photographs, of her commitment to this extraordinary subject.

Artists have long been drawn to Oman’s picturesque settlements and dramatic landscapes. During the 1840s and 1850s, Charles Golding Constable, second son of the British painter John Constable, made a series of watercolour sketches of coastal Oman and other locations in the Gulf in his role as a maritime surveyor for the East India Company.

This large-format volume reproduces 29 of his watercolours, along with his acclaimed 1860 chart of the Gulf, and a full facsimile and transcript of the commonplace book that he kept on his voyages. This collection is on long-term loan from Sheikh Fahad bin Abdullah bin Ali al-Araimi at the National Museum – Sultanate of Oman.

Impressions of Oman & the Gulf is written by J.E. Peterson, a leading historian of the region, and his fascinating introduction provides a biographical portrait of Constable and the historical context of his artworks.

In 1990 Andy Gotts, then a young photography student at Norfolk College of Arts and Technology, approached Stephen Fry at an event to ask him for a portrait. That brief meeting led to an even briefer photographic session (90 seconds), during which Andy realised he had discovered his photographic approach: “I cannot remember what I said to provoke the expressions and reactions I had in these 10 frames, but that was it… BOOM! … my eureka moment. It was like a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders and I knew celebrity portraits were the way for me.”

Andy’s unique portrait style – rapidly taken and often face-on – is admired for capturing the charisma of famed sitters such as Kylie Minogue, Meryl Streep, Harrison Ford and Kirk Douglas. Andy’s chatty, quick-fire approach led Paul Newman to nickname him ‘One Shot Gotts’. Hereford Cathedral, with its origins in the seventh century, is one of the oldest cathedral foundations in England and retains a warmth and intimacy all its own.
