Ian Eaves was Keeper of Armour at the Royal Armouries, Tower of London (1978–96). He is a consultant to museums, auction houses and collectors and author of catalogues of European armour in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, and the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle.
